Who we are:
Since its inception, OPAKAHOUSE has been recognized as a leader in campaign to eliminate the practice of FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION (FGM) worldwide. Started as a small fund raising campaign in 1999, OPAKAHOUSE has in 2009, officially became an organization that believes that people, especially women and children should be empowered to speak up and take control of issues that affect their lives.
The United Nations considers female circumcision “torture”. Human rights activists worldwide see it as a major violation of the basic human rights of women and girls.
OPAKAHOUSE is dedicated to providing Global Support and Santuary to past and potential victims of female genital mutilation and torture.
